DJP Fellow Urgyen Namdul on the Search for Steady Work in Kathmandu

This is the third in a new series of films from disabled Nepali activists who recently completed a DJP filmmaking workshop in Kathmandu.

Disability Justice Project (DJP) Fellow Urgyen Namdul shares his experience finding work as a Deaf person in Kathmandu. After he and other Deaf workers advocated for employment, Kathmandu Metropolitan City hired them to clean temples, but the project lasted only 100 days. Urgyen has since found work as a Pathao driver and continues to look for opportunities in a city where steady employment for Deaf people remains difficult to find. “Every opportunity is a chance to learn,” he says, “and learning never ends.”
